I had heard of Vin Jay before but this is the first time I’ve actually heard one of his songs (I believe) and I have to say I’m a huge fan of this one. This was someone who really had something to say, went to the studio, and opened a direct line from his heart to the microphone.

It’s beautifully shot and will leave you feeling some kinda emotion by the end of it.

My big thing is dissecting lyrics and I definitely dropped the ball on this one. There was just so much going on I couldn’t keep my eyes on everything. I think that’s what he’s trying to go for. If you want to skip ahead to my final thoughts you can at 6:49

I really loved this song. Compelling lyrics, beautiful flow, crosses genres, and a good singing voice too. You can tell Joyner sees himself as an artist with a message to spread. You can see he is always trying to push boundaries and he isn’t afraid to be authentic.

That’s my main takeaway. That authenticity made this song beautiful.

Author Reacts to Ghost – Upchurch “Official Music Video”

I have to say Upchurch has some polite fans. At least they were polite to me. After I reacted to his No Effort Remix (requested by John Green) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4mQCmIdYzQ I was flooded with comments saying they appreciated the honesty but wanted to hear my thoughts on his album music. At the time I didn’t know the No Effort Remix was essentially a freestyle with a music video so I decided to give him another chance.

At first I was hesitant—when I see things like Redneck and Confederate flags I usually run the other way, but since his fans were so courteous to me (and he even politely commented) I knew I owed a proper listen.

I gave this song one listen before my reaction to make sure I knew what I was getting into and I was wildly impressed by his talent. He is a gifted musician, and his strongest tools are his imagery. This song wasn’t propelled by punchlines but visual details and magnetic flow.

Overall I would give this a 9/10

I’m not entirely sure what my qualifications for 10/10 are so at the moment I’m holding off giving anyone a perfect score.

Today’s video reacts to a very popular creator & rapper on the platform. Quadeca is one of the first Youtube rappers I became familiar with. At the time of recording I forgot when I first heard of him, but I remember now. It was during his beef with KSI, I thought his diss was hilarious and immediately subscribed.

Overall I would give this a 9/10

10/10 visual storytelling though.

Today’s video was recommended by my subscriber John Green. Thank you so much for the recommendation and the support I really appreciate it! 

I was recommended by one of my subscribers to react to Upchurch’s No Effort remix.

I only knew Upchurch from his small interaction with Scru Face. I can see with his 1.5 million subscribers he is clearly doing something right.

Unfortunately, I am not his ideal audience. This song didn’t resonate with me. I thought he had some strong elements to his writing, particularly his use of imagery. The images he was able to conjure when he focused on verbal pictures were vivid but his flow and rhyme schemes were not able to keep me engaged with the song.

The video itself was very high quality. Like I said before I can see why he’s successful but he did not resonate with me.

I Would give this a 4/10
